Office of Vocations / Catholic Diocese of Toledo

Office of Vocations / Catholic Diocese of ToledoToledo Vocations needed an Internet presence that focused on the many rewards of life as a priest or sister. The Diocese also wanted to take more control of the content, so we incorporated a content manager application.

Goals
1) Build a site with a look and feel that would be especially appealing to prospective priests and sisters.
2) Portray priests and sisters as “real people” whose lives are filled with happiness and a strong sense of purpose.
3) Provide information for the parents of teenagers or young adults who might be interested in the priesthood or Formation of Sisters.
4) Most Catholic schools incorporate vocations into their lesson plans, so the client also wanted this site to serve as an information source for Catholic educators.
5) Incorporate user-friendly navigation and in-depth content.
6) Give the Diocese the ability to add and update its own content.

Research
In addition to reviewing other religious websites, we researched sophisticated design trends within the web and graphic design communities. We produced a site that’s sophisticated yet approachable. The look and content of the site were also shaped by many, many hours of conversations with the men and women working in Vocations, those on the “front lines” of recruiting new priests and sisters.

Marketing Strategy
We set out to reach younger people in search of their calling where they live - online - then, tell of the benefits of a life and spiritual mission dedicated to prayer and service to God and others. We also wanted to present priests and sisters as warm, approachable, and ready to help with a decision of this magnitude.
